She was the daughter of John Wesley Kile and Nancy Mary Ann Fish. She married Alexander Smith 2 November 1882 in Williamson County, Texas. He was born in Milam County, Texas and died bef. December 1893 in Bell County, Texas, the son of Henry Smith and Christian McCloud. Matilda next married Samuel Houston Duggins on 7 December 1893, in Bell County, Texas. He was born 9 September 1873 and died 18 February 1957. He was the son of Elizabeth Jane Bass and James B. Duggins.
