Funeral services for Wilbur Robert Mitchell, 54, were held at the Stevens Memorial Chapel in Coleman at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31. Mr. Mitchell died in the Coleman Hospital at 9:30 p.m. July 29th. Burial was in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of the Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Santa Anna October 12, 1905, to John and Nettie Weaver Mitchell.
For the past 18 years he had been living on Rural Route 1 out at Coleman. He was a carpenter for County Precinct No. 1. He was a member at the University Baptist Church at Abilene.
Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of the Concho Baptist Church at Coleman, was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Ernest Killingsworth, Clifford Seals, Homer Cleckler, Robert Rutledge, J. 0. Burson, and Elgie Robins.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lena Mitchell; his mother, Mrs. Nettie Mitchell at Santa Anna; two sons, Robert and Jerry Don Mitchell, both at Coleman; two daughters, Mrs. Cloyce M. White at Abilene and Mrs. Louise Ray at Louise, Texas; one sister, Miss Vivian Mitchell, of Brownwood; and four grandchildren.
