"Santa Anna News," July 5, 1963. W. D. SHEFFIELD FOUND DEAD MONDAY.
William D. Sheffield, 66, was found dead at his home four miles east of Santa Anna Monday
afternoon, He apparently died in his sleep Wednesday night as mail was still there that was put in it on Thursday morning. He was found by a friend, Henry Sorrells. Death was apparently from natural causes.
He was born in Coleman County, November 17, 1896, and was a veteran of World War I Funeral services were held at the Hasch Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev.
Bobby Weathers, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Hasch Funeral Home.
Survivors: one son, William D. Sheffield Jr. of Odessa and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Walter C. Holt, Calvin Campbell, Clarence Gilbert, Dutch Campbell, Ed Schrader and Henry Sorrells.
