“Santa Anna News,” Santa Anna, Coleman County, Texas, 8 February 1957:
RITES FOR SAM H. DUGGINS HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON. Funeral services were held in the Stevens Funeral Chapel in Coleman at 3 p. m. Tuesday for Sam H. Duggins, who died at 5:30 a. m. in the Overall Hospital in Coleman. Rev. S. R. Smith of Brownwood officiated.
Samuel Houston Duggins was born Sept. 9, 1873 being 83 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Coleman County from Bell County in Jan. 1900 and lived in the Liberty Community for many years.
His wife, Arizona Duggrns, preceded him in death by a number of years.
A retired farmer, Mr. Duggins was a member of the baptist Church. Before his retirement he served for 25 years as a Coleman County school trustee. The past several years he had made his home in Santa Anna with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Howard.
Survivors include three sons, Marshall Duggins of Coleman, Sammie of Santa Anna, and Carter of San Angelo; one step-son Alex Smith of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Schwarz of Homewood, Illinois, Mrs. Janie Addison of Houston, Mrs. Daphna Sheffield of Brownwood, and Mrs. Jesse Howard of Santa Anna; two brothers, Clint Duggins of Brownwood and Lee Duggins of Bangs; one half-brother L A. Kile; and one sister Docie Starr of Sugarland, nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

SAMUEL H. DUGGINS, SR. RITES AT COLEMAN. Coleman, Feb. 18- Funeral services for Samuel Houston Duggins, 83, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the J. E. Stevens Memorial Chapel in Coleman with Rev. S. R. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery.
Mr. Duggins, who was born in Bell County, Sept. 9, 1873, died Monday in the Overall Memorial Hospital here. He was a retired farmer and a member of the I.O.O.F. He came to Coleman County in 1900.
