KILE YOUTH IS GUN ACCIDENT VICTIM; FUNERAL TOMORROW.
James Preston Kile, 17, was dead on arrival at the Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital at 9:45 p.m. last night after being hit by a slug from a 22 caliber rifle. The accident happened at his home at 517 San Saba Street here.
Peace Justice Walter C. Holt advised this newspaper just after noon today that he was returning a verdict of “accidental death.” He reports that all of the wood on the gun had been recently sanded and apparently young Kile was working with the gun or handling same when it accidentally discharged.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, at the Coleman City Cemetery.
Survivors include the mother, Mrs. Pearl Kile of Coleman; the father, Wayne Kile of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Williams of Sweetwater and Mrs. Johnnie Merril of Winters; and a brother, Edward Kile of Sweetwater.
Kile was born here July 22, 1949 and had lived in Coleman all of his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
