"Austin State Gazette,"  7 July 1860.  "Thomas P. Thompson, the murderer of old man William C. Dyches of Bell County in 1854, was arrested in Louisiana and is now in Jail at Belton."  

Williamson County, 27 April 1861.  "Thomas P. Thompson charged with the murder of Mr. Dyches, escaped last week from jail."  

Bell County.  "Mr. Thompson of Donahue Creek, shot Mr. Dykes of Indian Creek in the hip and the ball passed through the abdomen.  He is not expected to live.  Affray began over some hogs of Mr. Thompson's getting into the field of Mr. Dykes."

District Court, Bell County.  State of Texas vs Thomas P. Thompson.  Case #4348.  Criminal Court Book 2, pgs. 192, 193, 199, 201, 246, 248, 286, 398, 399, 114, 159, 160, 161, 174, 192, 399, 447-8.  On the 5 August 1890 Thompson was charged with second degree murder and convicted the 19th February 1892.  His sentence was seven years in the state penitenary.
