WWI Veteran 68-Yr. Citizen Dies Monday
A retired farmer and WWI veteran who had lived in Coleman County since 1905 died Monday June 18, 1973, at 5:35 a.m. in Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital.
He was John C. McQueen, 79, of Fisk, who was a member of the Church of Christ.
Son of John Morgan and Bennie Lou Crenshaw McQueen, he was born June 26, 1893 in Grapeland.
His funeral rites were conducted this afternoon (Tuesday) at 3:30 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel by Mr. Tom Holcomb, assisted by Mr. Robert Bostick.
Interment was at Brown Ranch Cemetery.
Survivors were four sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Ulala Kile and Mrs. Anna Haney of Coleman and Mrs. Ruby Hamilton and Mrs. Nota Snider no Fisk.
Lum McQueen of Coleman, Bill McQueen of Corpus Christi, Henry McQueen of Fisk, Glenn McQueen of Andrews, and several nieces and nephews.
