      Carl L. Smith was born 17 May 1924 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.  He is the son of John Alexander Smith and Lilly Lynn McKamy.  He married (1) Donna Mae Woodford Abt. 1 December 1946 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California.    He married (2) Lorene Cryer Abt. 1951 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

     Carl Smith is now retired.  He has worked in the aircraft industry, as a service station operator and as a bartender.  His daughter, Linda Sue Smith, was adopted by her mother's second husband and was raised in the Orange County area and may still live there.  His sons, Larry and Carl, were raised in an orphans home in Dallas.  The last time their father saw them was when they were 3 and 5.  Carl believes that his ex-wife may have told the boys that he had passed away.  Carl and his sister, Modine, spent time in Dallas in 1981 trying to locate the boys and were unable to.
